tacos, healthy eating, weight loss, tacoHave you ever had Bolthouse Farms Cilantro Avocado Yogurt Dressing on your tacos or taco salads?  If you just answered no, please do yourself a favor and try it next time.  It will not disappoint!  Beef O’ Brady’s has a poblano sauce they serve with their tacos and this is similar and definitely hits the spot when I can’t be there!

tacos, healthy eating, weight loss, tacoI rarely buy taco seasoning packets at the store anymore.  I’ve been using my own seasonings for a long time now- it is cheaper and the ingredients are more clean.  I’ve been adding turmeric to everything lately too- it has so many benefits and no overpowering flavor when mixed with other seasonings.

tacos, healthy eating, weight loss, tacoTonight I mixed all the seasonings together first, but I usually just season the meat with each separately, add a little water, and then mix.  You want chili powder to be the base here, so go heaviest on that.  If you don’t like spice, skip the red pepper flakes and the cayenne, or if you like spice, go heavier!  You can also skip the salt- I just decided to use some tonight but it definitely isn’t a must.

tacos, healthy eating, weight loss, tacoI used 100% whole grain tortillas, and then topped my tortilla with my taco beef (organic and grass fed), organic Mexican cheese, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, Bolthouse Farms Cilantro Avocado Yogurt Dressing, and then I also added crushed up sweet potato chips which was delicious.

Black olives and jalapeños would have also been good, but I didn’t have those ingredients on hand!   I also like to sauté chopped bell peppers and onions and add them to the ground beef or turkey.  It is a great way to get more veggies in while also adding more flavor to the tacos.
