First of all, this photo makes me want to move to Florida. This Minnesota cold is dragging me down and I am ready for some rays of sunshine. Anyways, time to talk benefits of oranges, or Vitamin C rather.
The obvious benefit of oranges- one orange can pack in a whopping 85% or more of your daily recommended value (varies person to person of course).
Like all vitamins, Vitamin C is awesome for your overall health. I would say that a pretty high percentage of society is often under stress (myself included), and Vitamin C is a great vitamin to keep in your daily diet as it can help strengthen your immune system that might be weak because of high levels of stress.
Vitamin C is also associated to helping with colds, and while it probably isn’t going to cure a cold itself, it can stop the cold from turning into something else which is why most of us were and are always told to take Vitamin C when we are sick.
In addition, Vitamin C is great for your skin, for growing and repairing body tissue, helping fight against free radicals, healing wounds, and for cartilage, bone, and teeth maintenance.
Other than oranges, below is a small list of other foods that contain a solid amount of Vitamin C:
- Brussels Sprouts
- Bell Peppers
