March No Spend Challenge

I’ve decided to attempt a month of no spending. I’ve been thinking about this for awhile and it’s time I give it a go. We are in a time where we really need to save money to pay off some debt and get ourselves moving forward with some things in our lives, and this is perfect place to start. I definitely make plenty of unnecessary purchases so this will be a good challenge for me.

The Rules

Grocery Budget, First & Foremost

I struggle at the grocery store, hard. Let’s just say that a budget of $75 a week on food will be tough. This will require far more meal planning and creativity in the kitchen, as well as only sticking to the list. Might I also add that there aren’t many leftovers I eat? Luckily I love salads.

No Starbucks or Caribou Coffee

No more drive thru’s for an iced coffee on my way to work. I’ve already been working on this one for awhile but I’m still not perfect. I also like to stop at McDonalds for a large Coke or Taco Bell for a Diet Pepsi. This adds up fast and is absolutely awful for my health!

No Meals Out

This rule will be very difficult. I LOVE going out to eat. Whether it’s to give in to a craving I’ve had or just to get out of the house and do something, I enjoy eating out. We already have dinner plans one night for the month of March, so this will have to be an exception.

Avoid Amazon at All Costs

Yikes, do I love Amazon but my spending needs a time out! I tend to impulse buy a lot, like the items in the above photo.

Bills (do I really have to?)

Unfortunately bills can’t be ignored, so these will still need to be paid, along with other necessities like toilet paper, dish soap, gas, etc.

Wish me luck!

Do you have any goals for March?

This sounds like a fun challenge. I know I can easily go without spending money on clothes for a month. The grocery shopping may be a little harder.
